G4 Music

Hello!

Once a month the themes of Music learning and skills will be presented on this page.

Performance:

EQ: What is good singing?

Vocal assessment is ongoing, and students are reminded to practice warm-ups and sing in a light, head voice to extend the higher singing range.

EQ: What is good recorder playing?

EQ: What qualities make a good performance?

The Grade 4/5 Concerts are just around the corner scheduled for Tuesday, May 15, and along with the Elementary Choir, classes are busy in preparation. To be ready, extra practice on recorder and memorization will help student confidence in performance.

On May 21, Student Led Conferences will take place in ES 42, where students will reflect upon their concert performance and recorder goal sheets.

Homework

• Students should continue reviewing and learning pieces either from the Concert Selections below or from the yellow recorder book if they are not preparing a part for the May 15th concerts. Prove your practice! Fill out the Practice Bug with your parents' participation. A parent needs to initial each circle and sign his/her name on the signature line. Then hand it in to me. The more Practice Bugs handed in, the more your recorder technique improves!

If students are not playing recorder in the concert, they are expected to hand in a Practice Bug the week beforehand. If they are playing recorder in the concert, submitting Practice Bugs will demonstrate diligence in learning more music and honing recorder skills.

Here is the May Concert Study Guide.
