G1 Music

Hello!

How do we read music? This question is being explored by looking at contour pictures and making our voices go the direction of the line. There are many different ways that musicians can share their ideas. We are following the direction of some lines and noticing where the lines went up, down or stayed the same.

Upcoming repertoire will include rhythmic reading practice and melodies using "So, Mi, and La" and visualizing notation on lines and spaces. Honing mallet technique at the Orff instruments, reading rhythms, and voice exploration will also be included in this month's activities. Students are learning new activities that stimulate movement and singing while fostering community participation.

Grade One students will also be practicing proper instrument technique. On May 22, Student Led Conference Day, students will demonstrate their technique for parents in the Music room, ES 18.
